Through planning and revitalization strategies, Gary Ponder has been able to use legislation such as the Communmity Reinvestment Act to work with local goverments to revitalize communities.
In 1998, Gary Ponder was selected for a two year appointment to serve as a Community Builder Fellow. Mr. Ponder spent the next two years working in the New Orleans HUD Field Office to promote the mission of HUD.
Following one of the most horrific natural disasters in the United States, Gary Ponder worked with the St. Bernard Parish government as the lead econmic development contractor for FEMA.
Since 1997, Gary Ponder has worked with HUD Headquarters to provide standard operating procedures, reporting requirments and TA for the HOPE VI program.
Houses of worship have been providing refuge and resources to communities for many years. Since 1991, Gary Ponder has been working with communities of faith to fulfill their spiritual missions using public funding.
Strategically combing the needs, wants and investment opportunities of communities can produce mutually beneficial outcomes.
