Gary Ponder has developed, managed, evaluated and provided technical assistance for public sector projects for nearly 20 years. With a balance of public sector management experience and technical resources, Gary provides his clients and local stakeholders with comprehensive solutions to complex problems.In 1998 Gary was selected by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a Community Builder Fellow where he worked in the New Orleans, LA HUD Field Office for two years. Gary was also employed as a public sector consultant for international management consulting firms KPMG and Lockheed Martin. Prior to Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, he served as the Regional Gulf Coast Manager for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). During the recovery phase following Hurricanes Rita and Katrina, Gary worked as a FEMA technical assistance contractor, with a focus on economic recovery to the parrish of St. Bernard, LA. At the local level of government, Mr. Ponder led a 12 person neighborhood stabilization team comprised of agency representatives for the Executive Office of the Mayor for the City of Washington, D.C. Most recently, he worked with the American Red Cross headquarters, where he was the liaison to FEMA Headquarters. In this capacity he served as the National Response Command Center (NRCC) operational lead for mass care activities during Level III or higher incidents.Gary Ponder received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Bowie State University and has completed the coursework for a Master of Science degree from the American University, in Washington, D.C.
